CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT OF A DISASTER
during and after the disaster
When a disaster damages your property, you might be overwhelmed with questions or disoriented and faced with many decisions. Concerns about insurance contacts, filing claims, emergency repairs, costs, time, etc…
Here are some basic steps to follow after a disaster:
- Immediately call your insurance agent or the insurance adjuster, he is the intermediary party between you and your insurance company.
- Report your loss in the best way you can and keep it handy to compare it with the evaluator’s claim.
Note: before any disastrous strike it would be wise to prepare an inventory or videotape the property and its contents now, and store a copy in a different place. - The insurance company represented by the adjuster will assign an evaluator to examine the damages and determine how much you will be compensated.
- The insurance company will appoint a certified general contractor in order to reinstate the premises to its original condition.
Urgent repairs
To protect your property from further damage, you could start with all necessary temporary repairs, such as boarding up windows and patching holes in walls or roofs, as soon as possible, even if you have not seen the company’s representative. You can also move your building contents to a protected area and begin cleaning and drying items damaged by water or fire. However, you should not dispose of any items that you believe may be a complete loss until the company representative has examined them and find if it is covered or not. This kind of urgent action could be done by the client.
By having Viabloc on your side you will have a fair claim from your insurance company.
Experienced and accepted as an expert in the after disaster, Viabloc is a consultancy and a construction management company that handles the insurance claims while prioritizing its clients over their insurance. At Viabloc we are available to support our clients having proper claim and be compensated fairly by their insurance.
Viabloc does not guarantee the reception of the total Indemnisation to any to its clients, however understanding the difficulties our client is passing through, thus we provide proper Estimates, Plans, and Evidences to the insurance in order for our client to have a fair and satisfying Indemnisation.
Our strategy is simple: The client joint-ventures with Viabloc,
Viabloc construction management and the client become one entity.
Both viabloc and client shall agree on the selection of the subtrade and labourers for any assigned task at the client’s premises, same for the selection of the suppliers and the manufactures.
The client’s labour and effort in doing in-house work and purchasing the material is counted and could play a big role, especially if he wishes to make supplementary work other than what is in the original estimate.
For a visibility purpose between the 2 venturing parties, if the client wishes to do something more than what has been indemnified, it would be at their own expense, or it would be withdrawn from the indemnity amount offered by the insurance, thus on the other hand, the client shall give up other tasks from the original contract. However, If the client, wishes to do something less, Viabloc will charge 20% on any job not done.
That said, both Viabloc and the client are responsible and had to work side by side in order to achieve the satisfaction needed in his own premises.
Whether the subtrades are selected and paid by the owner/client or by Viabloc construction company or by the insurance company or by any other parties, Viabloc’s Profit, administration, and management fees shall be honoured and respected at all time.
Often clients come to us to accompany, inform and defend them without an accurate sense of our charges.
